Hoogte regeling bij AFL koplampen

Discussie in 'Handleidingen Focus II' gestart door Dark Angel, 9 apr 2011.

  10. height control is a first step, but the next is to retrofit a full functionality, I mean turning of lenses :)

I've found a Russian forum with a thread about AFS retrofit: http://ffclub.ru/topic/38907/

In the first post there is a summary with drop down sections ('Скрытый текст' = hidden text) - translate.google.com will not open it, I use Google Chrome browser instead (translates pages on the fly and can log in to forums)

In short, in order to retrofit adaptive lights you need, apart from lights:
    - AFS control unit no. 4M51-13K031 FINIS 1425194
    - steering position sensor with 6 pins (supports AFS or AFS+ESP, 4 pin version of this sensor is only for ESP)
    some pictures:

Complete schematics of Focus in English are here: http://narod.ru/disk/15667045000/C307_all_schematics.pdf.html and http://narod.ru/disk/22471451000/C307_MY09.pdf.html (before and after FL)
in order to download, on the left side you need to write a number from a picture and press green button (Скачать) then on the next page click on a link

At the moment, I'm only a theorist: I have lights, steering position sensor (already installed at steering column when I had ESP retrofitted) and I'm looking for AFS control unit and plugs for lights.

    Regards,
    Mayak

  11. So you installed ESP afterwards?

  12. Seems to... ;)

yes, I did (just before last winter :) ) thanks to Russian forum (again) and my colleague who is very familiar with Ford's IDS

    link: http://ffclub.ru/topic/117720

Basicly, to add ESP when you have ABS, you need following hardware:
    - ESP pump and a plug (plug is different then the one from ABS pump) no 3М51-2С405

    - yaw sensor (located under passenger seat)

    http://css.ffclub.ru/forum/uploads/post-29-1258564084.jpg
    - new front wheel sensors (for ABS only there are black sensor, for ESP there are blue) finis 1356184
    http://radikal.ru/F/i072.radikal.ru/1009/e6/f9fd59f1c485.jpg.html
    - ESP switch off button (I retrofitted new, after FL dials, so I have also 'esp off' option in dials display menu, but this option is inactive, and using a button is faster and more convenient)
    http://css.ffclub.ru/forum/uploads/post-29-1255725432.jpg
    - some wiring, schematics:
    http://images39.fotosik.pl/930/1d87c2e098470b9e.jpg

Installation of hardware can be done by any good garage, problem is to make it work: calibration and configuration of GEM

I haven't changed vacuum pump, so I don't have EBA (emergency brake assistant) which normally comes together with ESP

ESP pump has additional functions over ABS pump:
    - blinking of hazard lights under hard braking
    - DDS (deflation detection system) function can be activated with IDS diagnostic tool

    Regards,
    Mayak

    ps.
@Admin: maybe it could be better to move this post to new thread 'esp retrofit'?

  14. I re-adjusted your pictures so we can see them ;)

  15. Very sweet!!!

    What about the €€€?

Can u give us the exact finis codes for every part? :)

And what about the wiring, already prefitted in car?

    Thanks!

  16. Read the post's, the wiring was not prefitted ;)

  17. money - I live in Poland, so most likely prices are different - I bought most parts from dis-assembly on our equivalent of ebay. buying at ford dealer would cost ridiculous a lot money

    part numbers
    - esp pump: 3M51-2C405-HA
    - yaw sensor 3M5T-14B296-AB , bracket 3M51-14B348-AF
    - wheel sensors (blue) 1356184
I don't have exact part number of steering position sensor and switching off button- best way is to find a whole unit with wipers/blinkers stalks and airbag spring tape (search for a unit that has additional white socket on left side as you can see in above pictures)

    Wiring:
you need to place 8 wires from esp pump to a cabin (through a grommet behind passenger storage box):
    - 2 wires with power supply for yaw sensor and steering sensor
    - 2 wires for 'esp off' button
    - 2 shielded wires for yaw sensor output signals
    - 2 wires for steering sensor output signals
then venting (removing air from brake hoses), calibration and programming with IDS

    Regards,
    Mayak

  18. Ok, thanks!

Can u still find all the parts u need for this project?

    Would be nice ;)

Especially with the prices in Poland ;)

sorry, but I don't run business of 'import-export Ford Focus used parts' :)
are there any scrapyards around you? have you searched ebay?

from my experience, parts are not a problem, but someone smart with access to IDS
    ps.
retrofit esp costed me in total little less then 400Eur

    ps2.

    Well, not really no

Not here in Belgium, maybe in Holland we can find those parts

Just began my search, and for the pump it's already €400+
